Job Description:

Responsible for managing the salary and benefits of Federal Capacity Funds for UF/IFAS.  This is a “cradle to grave” responsibility, which includes supervision of the creation of allocations directly funded by USDA and required cost share, assists in preparing budgets, payroll distribution, effort coordination, expenditure analysis, cash draws and annual financial reporting to the USDA and UF. Responsible for budget analysis and making short and long-term spending projections.

Within the Federal Capacity Funds, responsible for post-award accounting, including expenditure review to ensure compliance with UF and USDA policies and regulations, monitors budget and financial activities such as negative balances, budget exceptions, processes budget transfers, helps resolve any accounting issues.

Acts as backup for other personnel in the IFAS Finance Administration Office.

Performs training and review functions for UF/IFAS departments as needed.  Other duties as assigned.

Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area and two years of experience in grant and contract administration.


Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of accepted accounting standards and principles
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial and HR modules, myinvestiGator, UFIRST, Space Reporting and Asset Management.
Knowledge of methods of data collection
Ability to communicate with and mediate between people of varying levels.
Ability to work independently and produce critical path results in different areas simultaneously according to appropriate priorities.
Ability to understand and apply applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to use programs/software such as PeopleSoft, Word, Excel, and various web-based products.
Prefer knowledge of USDA policies and regulations regarding use of Research and Extension federal formula funds for faculty working on federal projects.
