About the Position: 
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) is one of eight colleges at CSUF and contains five departments. The college offers through its departments and programs, baccalaureate degrees in all disciplines and master's degrees in biological science, chemistry, geology, physics and mathematics. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Support Coordinator I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general direction, the Administrative Support Coordinator I, provides general office support and customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Duties require knowledge of college and campus policies and procedures. The Administrative Support Coordinator I is the front line receptionist to the College of Natural Science and Mathematics Dean's Office and performs word processing, composes newsletters and announcements for the College, updates social media and websites, oversees scheduling of the Dean's Office conference room, performs data entry as required. Handles inventory and purchases office supplies as needed. Plans, initiates, executes, and coordinates projects, activities, and events with accountability for results. If needed, provides support on purchase orders, event planning and advertising, and financial reconciliations for Centers in the College. Maintains files, processes documents, and records, gathers data, and interacts with and solves problems for work unit customers and staff. Uses customer service and problem-solving skills to respond to customers via email, telephone, and in person. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.  Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.  Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Several years of experience working in an administrative support role in a college or university. Experience with CMS and purchasing procedures. Ability to work with frequent interruptions. Sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse students, faculty, and staff. Familiarity with Word, Excel, Publisher, PDF, and Powerpoint. Good written and oral communication skills. Experience working in higher education.
