Job Summary:

The 4-H Program Educator is an integral part of the UW-Madison Division of Extension and works alongside the people of Wisconsin to improve lives and communities. Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts.
This position is a part of the Division of Extension Positive Youth Development Institute, with a focus within the Wisconsin 4-H Extension Program. The Institute supports programs that engage Wisconsin youth in opportunities they need to learn, lead, grow, and thrive.
The 4-H Program Educator leads and manages the full range of the 4-H program including clubs, after school programs, educational experiences, and camps. Program Educators also design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus. The educator also strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. The educator strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
Initial programming focus will include:
-Recruiting, training, developing, and managing volunteers focused on helping youth develop life skills that promote ongoing community involvement and strengthen youth leadership development;
-Expanding 4-H membership and volunteer opportunities to underserved youth and adults;
-Overseeing 4-H Clubs, 4-H Groups, 4-H Leaders Associations and committees and coordinating the process for youth and adult volunteer enrollment;
-Strengthening the 4-H program by providing leadership for marketing, communications, member recruitment and member retention;
-Cultivating collaborative efforts and partnerships with other organizations to expand 4-H programming opportunities.

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 25% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 10% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 20% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 5% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • 5% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 5% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred in a field related to the position.

Qualifications:

Required:
-Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments;
-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; and
-Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
Preferred:
-Two years of experience leading, managing and/or evaluating educational programs;
-Demonstrated experience in programming and/or service delivery related to youth development;
-Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts;
-Ability to apply relevant policies, procedures and regulations including reporting requirements and risk and data management; and
-Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs.
-Demonstrated experience managing and/or supervising volunteers and/or staff

Work Type:

Part Time: 65% - 75%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $53,480 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information:

-The primary accountability relationship for this position is the Area Extension Director (Area #12) for supervision, compensation and benefits and performance reviews;
-This position's primary programming focus is Door County; however some programming will also be conducted over a broader geographical area;
-Office location and programming coverage is contingent on county funding support and location may be reassigned to align with county and Extension programming priorities;
-Expectation to make arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions;
-Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet programming needs.
