Posting Summary
4-H is the nation’s positive youth development program that builds skills needed in life and career, through fun, hands-on experiences, delivered in partnership with caring adults. Responsible for successful delivery of a new, 4-year grant project, Youth Empowerment through Agriculture (YEA) that provides opportunities for teen leadership, food system career pathways, and career development. Build and maintain culturally appropriate relationships with key partners and engage youth and adults in designing and implementing life-skills learning opportunities which reflect the unique needs and gifts of traditionally underrepresented audiences, such as disability communities or refugee and immigrant families, with focus on food and agriculture. This includes developing and collaborating with parents, youth and community partners, developing and leading educational activities identified alongside participants and partners, and recruiting and training teens to support delivery of programs. Emphasis is placed on ensuring all youth can thrive, including diverse and under-represented audiences.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree and two years’ related experience, or equivalent combination, with focus in youth or family programming, is required, as is experience working with culturally diverse audiences. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, teach and evaluate educational programs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with youth and adult volunteers, including community partners, in a culturally responsive and respectful team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Computer and electronic communication proficiency. Ability to provide leadership in a collaborative environment and be consistently supportive of decisions made by University of Vermont Extension. Must possess a commitment to fostering and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and willingness to travel, both in-state and out of state. Ability to work independently.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with volunteer development and/or building community collaborations preferred. Experience as an educator or other professional in culinary and/ or agricultural work preferred.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and willingness to travel, both in-state and out of state.
Position will be located in the Brattleboro Extension Office.
4 month probationary period is required.
This is a fully grant funded position.
Special Conditions Position located in different city, Weekend work required, Non-standard work hours required, Bargaining unit position, Contingent on continued funding, Travel to and from worksites required, 75% of full time with full benefits package, Background Check required for this position

Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
