Job Description:

This is a research-oriented position that will assist in ongoing projects studying the molecular mechanisms of persistent infection and tumorigenesis by human gammaherpesviruses. Duties include performing the following procedures:

  • Generate recombinant herpesviruses and lentiviruses and perform viral infection of human cell cultures based on specific guidelines.
  • Prepare plasmid DNAs from bacteria and perform plasmid DNA transfection into cell cultures.
  • Extract DNA and RNA from infected or transfected cells and analyze them by qPCR.
  • Prepare cell lysates from infected or transfected cells and analyze them by immunoblots.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed and results.
  • Perform routine lab procedures such as ordering lab supplies, organizing equipment repairs and maintenance, maintaining freezers.
  • The person in this position will work 40 hours per week.
Advertised Salary: $12.00 hourly
Minimum Requirements: BA or BS degree in Life Science Field or Biotechnology
Preferred Qualifications: BA or BS degree in Biology or Biotechnology with research experience.
