Job Description:

The Martinez-Rivera Lab focused on the Neurobiology of (Mal)Adaptive Behaviors has an opening for a full-time OPS position in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Florida, Gainesville. The Scientist will be directly working with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Freddyson J. Martinez-Rivera) in establishing the foundations, team, techniques/equipment, experimental designs, mentoring, and culture of the new Lab.

The position requires assisting in maintaining lab protocols, inventory, and equipment. Participation in conducting experiments, data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation is also required. Involvement in training/supervising students and buying equipment/supplies and animals. Opportunities to present the results in national and local conferences.

Eager to learn rodent models for addiction (i.e. drug self-administration), stress/depression (i.e. social defeat), decision-making tasks, and OCD/PTSD (approach/avoidance tasks). This will be combined with cellular and molecular techniques such as optogenetics, fiber photometry, transcriptomics, epigenetics, immunohistochemistry, western blots, and in-situ hybridization


 
Expected Salary:

$17.00-$20.00

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in bioinformatics or coding approaches (i.e. R studio, python) is a plus. Bachelor
