Job Description:

This exciting position in Procurement Services functions as a Buyer/Purchasing Agent for University of Florida  This position floats between all buying teams supporting everything an AAU/ R1 - Research university needs - in short "we buy cool stuff".

This position is an ideal entry into procurement.  Purchases span medical, dental, veterinary research equipment and supplies, minor construction & MRO, hotel/events, consulting and all services (ex: advertising, temporary labor, courier, records storage), furniture, vehicles, hardware and software.  The position requires knowledge  of Board of Governor and University regulation, UF policy, procedures and applicable State statutes. This position liaises between departments and vendors, facilitates and develops contracts, reads vendor- provided agreements, negotiates pricing and terms and issues Invitations to Bid.  The position supports Invitations to Negotiate ("ITN").  Primary responsibilities include: review and approve requisitions, approve change requests, negotiate, review and modify vendor-provided contracts.

Advertised Salary:

$33,000 - $55,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: purchasing / negotiating services contracts, reviewing vendor-provided agreements and experience in both public and private procurement environment.

Purchasing Certification. 

Strong communication skills - both written and oral. 

Strong customer services skills. 

Experience working in a close-knit team. 

Strong computer skills:  MS Office suite.

Curious and detail oriented candidates have been successful in the past.  

Must enjoy working in a team environment.  Should have an interest in learning about public purchasing and reducing cost to obtain best value.  Able to handle multiple priorities.  Understands impact of daily routine work on larger processes.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position is time limited through January 2020 and may extend beyond that depending on funding.  Permanent employment opportunities may arise for the successful candidate.  Two previous individuals who held the position became permanently employed.
