Job Description:

The Autonomous Vehicles Lab, a dynamic collaboration between the University of Florida (UF) and the esteemed Air Force Research Lab (AFRL/RW), is dedicated to advancing robust, cooperative estimation and control approaches for autonomous agents in GPS-denied environments. With a strong emphasis on experimentation, our lab is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge solutions. We are seeking a passionate and driven Research Engineer to support our lab operations and contribute to our collection of ground and aerial robots.

As a Research Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in various aspects of autonomous vehicle development and experimentation.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Autonomous vehicle software and hardware development
• Data analysis to derive meaningful insights
• Vehicle maintenance to ensure optimal performance
• Lab maintenance and configuration control
• Additional tasks as assigned in support of lab operations

You will have the opportunity to work independently on projects while also collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers from UF, AFRL, and support contractors.


 
Expected Salary:

$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field)
  • Research experience in relevant areas
  • Advanced proficiency with physics simulators for research (e.g. Airsim) and Unreal Engine
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine plugins and Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems
  • Proficiency in ROS1 and ROS2
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson boards
  • Advanced skills in C++ and Python programming
  • Experience with machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux operating systems
