Job Description:

The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation

  • Assist in creating, researching, writing, and reviewing online content, including trans-creating English resources to Spanish content as assigned.
  • Author high-quality content and activities that support current evidence-based research, are developmentally appropriate, reflect best practices in English Learner instruction, and ensure that content follows the outlined templates.
  • Assure that content is competency-based and that assessments and content is aligned with the appropriate Competencies and Standards.
  • Guide the translation process by providing resources from the field that are available in Spanish to ensure consistency.
  • Research Spanish reference materials.
  • Refer to other courses/products that have been translated in Spanish to ensure consistency within and across products.
  • Work with tech team to translate or review/edit translated directions or functions within the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Review and edit course materials and resources that have been translated to ensure they are grammatically correct; vocabulary used for course content is consistent with the language in the field and incorporated within other products; and to incorporate any products improvements that have been identified by others.
  • Review and edit content and materials, both video and non-video; closed captioning files; and Interactive Media Elements.
  • Assure content adheres to APA guidelines, as appropriate.
  • Review content and materials and edit for improvements as necessary.
  • Work with a voiceover company to guide the work needed to translate.

Facilitation & Implementation


  • Facilitate and support team members facilitating face to face, virtual, and online professional development learning experiences or learning showcases.
  • Assist in the creation of institute materials. This includes developing and creating learning activities, assisting in the selection of materials, infusing adult learning strategies within materials, and providing the evidence base that supports the selection of materials, programs, and strategies.
  • Engage with facilitators to support the implementation of high-quality content and resources based on current research and best practices.
  • Execute Implementation components of Project Charters with the implementation project budget available:Travel, Materials, Personnel, and other items necessary.
  • Design and facilitate intensive, multi-day literacy-related professional learning experiences for school administrators, coaches, and teachers.
  • Identify and manage systems for resource development and personnel as the literacy work expands.
  • Provide onsite literacy coaching and school-level support for instructional leaders and teachers.
  • Assist in the development of a framework that combines content-related expertise (i.e., reading instruction, EL instruction) and coaching practices.

Operations Support

  • Works closely with direct supervisor to stay abreast of changes and share information from the field to guide ongoing refinement of products and services.
  • Works closely with the Product Management team to share feedback from educators to inform research and design.
  • Keep accurate records which may include (but is not limited to) rosters; roster changes; starting and ending dates for training, attendance at meetings and trainings; receipts and invoice records.
  • Participate in meetings referencing deliverables (dates, people, materials, other supports).

Other duties as assigned


Expected Salary:

$65,000-$70,000


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Biliterate – English/Spanish
  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or appropriate area of specialization
  • Teaching experience with English Learners and/or directing of child care center preferred
  • Strong research, editing, and writing skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively and with a commitment to collegiality
  • Candidates should have superior interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, superior oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced business environment, and ability to work proactively to provide a wide-range of project support.
