Job Description:

Recruit, hire, schedule, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate aquatic program assistants, lifeguards, lifeguard supervisors, safety instructors, and swim instructors. Supervise student staff on shift at multiple aquatic facilities, ensuring policies enforcement. Conduct staff meetings and provide continuing education training.


Manage the day-to-day operations of aquatic facilities, purchase aquatic equipment, and continually collaborate with maintenance staff to achieve maximal longevity of equipment and facility space. Conduct daily observations on use of equipment and aquatic facilities.    

Plan, implement, and schedule aquatic programs including, but not limited to: Learn-to-Swim, Private Swim Lessons, Lifeguard Staff Audits, Lifeguarding Courses, Water Safety Instructor Courses, and Lifeguard Instructor Courses. Serve as liaison between Student Organizations, University Athletic Association, Academic Groups, UF Scuba and other varied university departments for aquatic events and reservations.

Evaluate aquatic programs, rules, and policies through participant evaluations and staff input. Complete monthly report responsibilities and attend weekly aquatic program meetings and bi-monthly department meetings.

Prepare and analyze statistical reports, evaluations, and participation surveys.  Prepare program manuals, determine program fiscal needs, and prepare budget recommendations. Responsible for maintaining accuracy of webpages.


Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree; two years of experience in personnel management and aquatic programming; understanding of aquatic facility operations in a campus recreation setting; effective communication skills; ability to work with minimal supervision, to think laterally, to undertake initiatives, to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to supervise people; physically able to teach/instruct aquatic training classes, instructor trainings and lift a minimum of 45 pounds.
