Job Description:

RecSports Fitness Associate

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
  • Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
  • Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
  • Enforce gym policies and procedures in Strength & Conditioning areas
  • Ensure the safety of patrons
  • Assume first responder’s role in emergency situations
  • Guide patrons in proper use of equipment
  • Clean equipment according to set standards and ensure overall cleanliness in S&C areas
  • Spot patrons and make spotting decisions based on educated judgment
  • Provide quality customer service (see Customer Service Statement)
  • Maintain an inclusive atmosphere thorough cleaning of equipment and workout space
  • Organize weights, accessories and realign equipment
  • Track participation through hourly counts
  • Develop a strong base-line level of fitness knowledge
  • Check equipment for wear and signs of damage
  • Report broken equipment and accessories
  • Provide accurate information and refer patrons to other Fitness services
  • Remaining accountable; timeliness and completing the designated work for each shift
  • Report to Fitness Supervisor
Expected Salary:

$10.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Employment for Fall 2021 will begin October
  • Employment for Spring 2022 will begin in January
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certification required (can be obtained once hired)
  • Must have an interest in personal fitness and a desire to learn
  • Must be willing to start working opening, closing, and/or weekend shifts
  • Must be able to commit to at least 12 hours per week
  • Willing to safely lift at least 50 pounds repeatedly

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
