About the Role

We are seeking a Welfare Adviser to provide high quality, professional, specialist and confidential welfare advice and advocacy to applicants and students on a range of topics including: student financial support, hardship funds, bursaries, money management, welfare benefits, fee status, council tax, housing law and immigration law.

About You

You should have a proven track record of providing specialist, casework, advocacy and representation. You will have substantial experience working with students in higher education and be aware of the challenges they may encounter. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

About the Department

The Advice and Counselling Service is a multidisciplinary student support service offering counselling, mental health and psychological support, psychiatry clinics, sexual assault and harassment advice, welfare advice and immigration advice. The service is one of the constituent departments in the Directorate of Student Experience.

The Advice and Counselling Service currently employs 42 staff plus a small number of counselling trainees and associates.
