About the Role

Leading the information architecture, content strategy and accessibility of our central website and intranet, this role ensures the world, our students and our staff can find what they want to know and what we want to tell them on gold.ac.uk, project websites and intranet.

Using your content strategy and information architecture experience, you will work with people in Communications, Marketing and Recruitment (CMR) and across Goldsmiths to manage our web content production.

Most of the main gold.ac.uk website content updates will be made by you and your team. You’ll know the best way to present content to potential students and current students based on analytics, needs and behaviours.

You’ll help our strategic communications team tell the story of Goldsmiths. For our research projects, you’ll work with academics to profile their work and, in some cases, set them up with a WordPress site.

You will work closely with our small web development team and designers to evolve gold.ac.uk. We have a new visual identity that will be part way through being added to the website when you join.

Over the past two years we have established a new SharePoint staff intranet. Now it is up and running it will need your advice and oversight on how best to maintain it.

You will look out for the needs of your team including their personal and professional development and play an important part in how the CMR directorate works.

About the Candidate

This role needs someone with substantial experience of running a content rich website and developing an audience focused content strategy (from architecture, through to management and governance). They’ll be used to maintaining content themselves and running a team who will help them.

They also need to know how to support others with their work. They’ll be managing a team and supporting people across Goldsmiths with using web systems.

Good copywriting is vital to this role. We want someone with lots of experience in quickly and accurately subbing or producing content with the right tone of voice that is accessible and optimised for search.

They’ll need to use their knowledge and experience to gain the confidence of others.  They’ll need to work with a range of stakeholders with different levels of digital understand – many with strong opinions of what they want.

Contract and working location

This is a full time permanent role.

We are currently operating a hybrid working model of at least two days in our office in New Cross, London (one of which is a fixed core day when the rest of the team is in). Other days are working from home. However, people can work more days in the office if they prefer.  This is subject to change, but there are currently no plans to change it.

Applying and selection

Please ensure you complete the application's essential and desirable requirement sections by explaining how you meet the requirements in person specifications within the Job Description.

The selection for this role will be based on how applicants match the person specification and their answer to the additional question about a website they have worked on.

We are planning to interview on 22 May 2024.
