Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 26 Jan 2023

Job Description

Optical management simulation and characterisation for perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell

  • Work on electrical and optical simulation of tandem solar cell currently developed at SERIS, and improve the functions and ease-of-use for the simulation package.
  • Perform characterisation on in-house fabricated solar cells (I-V, EQE, UV-VIS, TRPL, Ellipsometry), and collect data as input parameters for the simulation package.
  • Propose fabrication processing insight, through information gained from characterisation and simulation.
  • Further develop simulation and characteristaion capabilities, by combining his expertise with SERIS’s capabilities.

Modelling of a perovskite/Si tandem cells

In this project, we will model both two- and four-terminal perovskite/Si tandem cells to predict and optimize performance. Focus will at first be on optical modelling to capture the layer thicknesses, surface roughnesses, and material optical parameters. We will employ SunSolve, Matlab and COMSOL for the numerical implementation. Model predictions will be calibrated, verified and validated. We will then carry out sensitivity analyses and optimization of the cell architecture. Finally, both electrical and electronical models will be added on for a complete description of the tandem device.

Requirements

  • In-depth experience with the optical and electrical simulation of solar cell. (Equivalent to PhD in Science/ Engineering)
  • Experience with advanced characterization techniques for solar cell devices and Materials.
  • Previous experience with fabrication of perovskite and/or silicon solar cell would be advantageous.
  • Team player who is able to discuss ideas among different groups, and good written/ verbal English communications skills would be important.
