The Department of Mathematics at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) invites applications for several Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) positions in all areas of mathematics, commencing August 2022. Candidates should have a strong record and promise in research together with a commitment for excellence in teaching. A doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related area is required at the time of appointment. 

The VAP position is a three-year nontenure earning appointment. VAPs are expected to conduct vigorous research and perform quality teaching. The teaching load is the same as our regular tenure-track faculty members. VAPs affiliated with the newly founded SUSTech International Center for Mathematics will enjoy a reduced teaching load.

The Department of Mathematics at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was founded in 2015 with the mission of conducting first-class research and mathematical education. The department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. Current fulltime faculty members include two Chinese Academy of Sciences members, six National Talents Distinguished Scholars, and four Junior National Talents Distinguished Scholars. Almost all faculty members have had multiple years of teaching and research experience in top universities outside of China, and with a large percentage of them held tenured positions in the West. Research interests of the faculty members cover a broad array of Mathematics including Pure Mathematics, Computational and Applied Mathematics, Probability and Financial Mathematics.
