Named University of the Year 2022 by Times Higher Education, Northumbria is a research-intensive modern university with a global reputation for academic excellence. Ranked in the UK top 50 (Guardian University League Table 2022 and Complete University Guide 2023), Northumbria recorded the biggest rise of any UK university for research power in the Research Excellence Framework for the second time in 2021 and is now rated within the top 25 in the UK.
We have ambitious plans for further development. These include launching a new Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme to appoint exceptional academics, at all career stages, who share our ambitions and have research plans which will have a remarkable impact on any of our disciplines and/or drive development of our Research Peaks.
Our Vice-Chancellors Fellows will be appointed into a permanent Academic position and salary, commensurate with their academic standing (Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor). During the three-year Fellowship period they will have a research-focussed workload and become members of the Northumbria Fellowship Academy which will bring together Vice-Chancellors Fellows across the University on a regular basis, providing support and development opportunities. Fellows will have access to internal funding and together will help further drive our research strategy. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the University’s Academic Development Review process and be considered for further academic promotion during the fellowship period’
To be considered for this prestigious opportunity you must demonstrate academic excellence, evidenced through your role in the production of world-leading research outputs and have experience of winning grant funding (appropriate to discipline and career stage). In addition, you must demonstrate a clear research plan detailing how you would use the Fellowship period and including details of anticipated outputs, income and impact.
If you believe you have research ambitions that match ours, we would like to hear from you. Visit our Fellowship Web page to find out more these opportunities and how to apply.
