University Assistant Professor in Human Geography

The Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge seeks to appoint a University Assistant Professor in Human Geography. The post is available from 1 October 2024.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and will have an academic record appropriate for their career stage, including high-quality research publications, evidence of public engagement and impact, and experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from those whose research is in environmental humanities, post-/de-colonial geography, or quantitative human geography, or from those who might contribute to our current expertise in one or more of the areas of polar geography, conservation social science and demography & health.

Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience: a doctorate awarded in a relevant subject area; evidence of the ability to publish research in leading academic journals and to engage non-academic audiences with their work; evidence of the ability to teach up to Master's level and to supervise research students; an enthusiasm to engage in inter-disciplinary research and teaching; the ability to play an effective and collegial role in the life and work of the Department and the wider Collegiate University.
