Your place of work:
The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises the Dean's Office, a Student Service Center, four institutes, and the Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice. Your future position is based with the new Professorship of Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy Research (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Probst) at the Institute for Clinical and Health Psychology. This Praedoc university assistant will be responsible for developing and implementing therapy research at the Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice of the University of Vienna (FLPA). The research group investigates the processes and effectiveness of psychotherapy and therapeutic interventions.
Other key research areas of the professorship include:
- Evidence-Based Psychotherapy
- Digitalization, e.g., AI, in Psychotherapy
- The Use of Psychological and Neuroscientific Methods in Psychotherapy Research
The working group actively promotes open and reproducible science (e.g., through pre-registration and the sharing of materials and data) and values diverse perspectives.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You are responsible for establishing and implementing therapy research at the FLPA.
- You submit project proposals and secure external funding.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective bargaining agreement .
- You supervise students.
- You are involved in the organization of meetings, conferences, and symposia.
This is part of your personality:
- Master's Degree or diploma in psychology or other related fields.
- Experience in developing and implementing therapy research at a university-affiliated psychotherapy outpatient clinic.
- Interest in cross-cluster research questions.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality in the Context of Therapy Research.
- Experience with Ecological Momentary Assessment.
- Excellent knowledge of statistical analysis software.
- Work experience with clinical, mentally distressed, random samples.
- Ability to present and address research questions in a structured manner.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- High level of commitment and initiative.
- Very good command of written and spoken English and German (C1).
Desirable qualifications are:
- Initial experience in publishing scientific findings in journals with an impact factor, primarily as the first author.
- Initial experience as a tutor and/or teaching assistant in the field of psychotherapy.
- Study abroad.

The basic salary of EUR 3.776,10 (on a full-time basis, 14 x yearly) increases if we can credit professional experience.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
