The Department of Government, subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, is looking for a University Assistant (prae doc) in the field "Comparative Political Behavior and/or Political Institutions". The position is to be filled from October 1, 2024 and is limited to 4 years.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a University Assistant (prae doc), you will complete the research team around Univ.-Prof Markus Wagner, PhD and participate in research projects, scientific studies and teaching. 

The focus of our research is in the field of "Comparative Politics".

Your future tasks:

  • Participation in research, teaching and administration
  • We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12 months
  • Participation in teaching and independent teachings of courses as defined by the collective agreement 
  • International publishing and presentation acitivities 
  • Contribution to research projects and scientific studies
  • Contributions to publications
  • Contribution to organisation of confernces, meetings, symposiums
  • Projects application and external fundraising
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in evaluation activities and in quality assurance
  • Participation in administration of the department

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed Diploma or Master's Degree in the Social Sciences (Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Communication)
  • Research interest in comparative political behavior and/or institutions using quantitative or experimental methods 
  • Advanced knowledge of quantitative methods 
  • Experience with statistical methods
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3277,30 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.

Duration of contract: The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
