An exciting opportunity has arisen for an administrator to work with the University of Lincoln’s UNISON Branch, providing support to the Branch Committee.

UNISON is Britain and Europe's biggest public sector union with more than 1.3 million members. UNISON supports members working in the public services, with service groups covering: Business and Environment, the Community and Voluntary Sector, Education Services, Health Care, Local Government, and Police Services.

The UNISON branch within the University sits within the Higher Education Service Group and supports mainly non-academic staff by giving advice, undertaking consultation and negotiation for the terms and conditions of members, providing representation, campaigning, and other services.

As part of this role, you will be key in organising the Branch, dealing with memberships and enquiries from members, as well as officering Branch Committee Meetings and making arrangements for the AGM.

Reporting to the Branch Secretary, you will undertake some advisory, consultative, and representational duties on behalf of members if required by the Branch Committee.  As the first point of contact for members needing union support, you will need to be able to offer support and reassurance to assist members with a variety of work-related issues. You will need to be able to ensure confidentially and employ good listening skills.

The UNISON office is based in Witham House on the Brayford Campus, however we embrace flexibility and a hybrid culture of working; therefore, you will have the opportunity to combine working at Witham House with our newly refurbished professional services building, Lawress Hall, and with days working from home if you wish.

In support of our commitment to developing colleagues by providing opportunities for internal movement and promotion, applications for this opportunity will only be accepted from people who are currently employed by the University of Lincoln. We actively encourage applications from all colleagues across the University with the relevant skills and experience.

If you would like further information about the role, please contact Joy Knight ([email protected] ) or Daren Mansfield ([email protected] ) for an informal conversation.
