An exciting opportunity for an experienced trial manager to support the quantitative elements of a mixed-methods feasibility cohort study exploring the use of a new diagnostic test in GP practices. The test is designed to improve the use of antibiotics for upper respiratory tract infections, and it is hoped it may be valuable in the fight against antibiotic resistance. The study is funded by the NIHR School of Primary Care Research.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for managing the project, including recruitment, set-up, and management of the GP practices and participants in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. You will also be responsible for organising meetings, managing study budgets, and for supporting the study public contributors. You will contribute to academic and impact outputs from the study. It is expected that ethics approval will be in place by the time of appointment, however you will take responsibility for any subsequent amendments. You will be based at the Centre for Academic Primary Care, Canynge Hall in Bristol and will be required to travel to participating GP practices.
Applicants will have a degree in a health-related discipline (or equivalent experience) and will have knowledge and experience of medical research methodology and statutory clinical trial regulations, GCP, and research governance requirements. You will have experience of set-up, managing, and closing a study (preferably in primary care), including ensuring the study achieves its participant recruitment targets, initiating remedial action where required. You will have experience of managing study data and the preparation of results of research for presentation as posters, abstracts, papers or scientific presentations. You will have demonstrated your ability to work efficiently both independently and in teams in a research context and will have excellent written and spoken communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
