Translational research projects typically require proactive project management as a funder requirement. The post holder will implement, manage and deliver the OTR's translational projects.
These significant awards may be from the MRC, charities, NIHR or may be industry funded. They usually have several work packages spanning different departments or institutions and often involves a clinical trial.
The role holder will assist PIs in the prioritisation of tasks within each project in order to meet milestones. This will involve assisting the project team and researchers in working up scientific protocols and regulatory submissions for the project, optimising the interaction between the different partners on the project and working with the research teams to deliver project objectives within agreed time and financial constraints. The role will involve management of outsourced relationships and contracts to industrial and academic partners. The role holder will also interact and communicate with a wide range of collaborators (e.g. senior scientists, clinical staff, regulatory personnel, administrative officers and funder representatives).
In addition, the role holder will provide leadership in the development of the project management infrastructure and processes to the Office for Translational Research.
We are seeking a proactive and solution-focussed experienced Project Manager to take up this senior role in the team. Applicants will have a post-graduate degree in sciences, direct experience of project management as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships, especially those that cross institutional and cultural boundaries.
The post holder will be an employee of the University of Cambridge and be a member of the School of Clinical Medicine.
