£17908 to £18212 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The School of Chemistry is looking to recruit a Trainee Technician in our Chemistry Engineering workshops.
The successful candidate will be given practical training in the School of Chemistry's engineering workshops on a range of electronic, electrical, and mechanical engineering processes from qualified engineering technicians. Specialist training would be provided to allow the recruit to build on their practical skills and knowledge and there will be opportunities over the training period to learn a wide range of cutting-edge processes and equipment within a Higher Education environment. Formal academic educational training will be provided and will be tailored to suit the requirements of the successful candidate who would be expected to progress to a minimum HNC level in a specific engineering discipline.
Candidates should have a five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade - 4 or above (to include Mathematics, English and Science) and have the ability to rise to the challenge this opportunity presents.
The position is offered on fixed term contract until 31 August 2023. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week).
