The Temporary Staff Bank offers an opportunity for individuals to provide short term, ad hoc support across the University of Exeter.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic people with prior administrative experience, strong IT skills and excellent attention to detail. The successful applicants will have experience of administrative duties, good communication skills and can demonstrate flexibility with regards to working hours.

If successful in joining the Temporary Staff Bank, you will be engaged on a casual worker basis in accordance with the University's casual workers terms and conditions. You will be required to submit timesheets for each week worked in order to be paid and will receive your pay a month in arrears.

Job Summary:

The post will be homed within the Faculty Operations team for one of our faculties – Environment, Sustainability and Economy, Health and Life Sciences or Humanities and Social Sciences. Faculty Operations is part of the Division of Education and Academic Services. The Division of Education and Academic Services brings together all the key administration and educational support to create the conditions for student and academic success.  

The above full-time temporary post is available immediately in the Faculty Operations team, based on our Streatham Campus.  We are currently operating a hybrid working model with staff working flexibly between home and campus, as determined locally.

This temporary role is from ASAP to Friday 18th November 2022.

About the role:

To provide essential frontline administrative support to students and academic leaders within the faculty and/or department(s) including high-quality administrative support to key faculty or departmental/ leadership teams.  

The role ensures the frontline delivery of professional services in a timely manner ensuring that business is delivered to deadlines. The role will be expected to be heavily involved in local themes of work including supporting the student experience, Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) etc and will include action planning and tracking, reporting on outcomes and ensuring deadlines are met.

Contributing towards institution-wide projects, this post will be involved in the design, testing and roll-out phases of specific projects acting as locality ‘champion’ and encouraging/supporting the uptake of such roll-out amongst the academic community.

Given the frontline business support nature of this role, the post holder will be expected to respond to, manage and follow up on a diverse range of queries from a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a customer/end-user orientated manner.

The post holder will also assist with supporting faculty / departmental communications channels, liaising with academic staff to build a following and raise faculty / departmental profiles.
