Why Cambridge Enterprise?

We are at the heart of Europe's most successful research and technology cluster and we're on a mission to bring innovation to life, making a difference to society, the UK economy, and the University of Cambridge. We connect the innovative minds of the University’s academics with the funding, start-up expertise and commercial relationships they need to help their ideas thrive.

Our success stories include an electric vehicle charging technology that's as convenient as filling up with petrol, a programme to prevent ideological extremism, and the world's first treatment for a rare cause of blindness . Now, we need a Technology Development and Project Manager to join our team at our vibrant West Cambridge site.

Why you will love this role:

The Technology Innovation Fund is a new initiative for Cambridge Enterprise which provides a route for development of early-stage technology.

You will work in close collaboration with our existing teams to identify high value disruptive technology with significant market potential. The Technology Investment Fund will bridge the gap between Academic research and industrial commercialisation to develop and add value to technologies to the point where the technology is de-risked and market ready. You will work with both the Academic and Technology Transfer teams as well as external technology development partners to accelerate the commercialisation of ground-breaking technology.

Your day to day will look like this:

  • Diverse Technologies: From Life Sciences to Physical Sciences and Arts and Humanities, you'll navigate a broad spectrum of innovations, unlocking their commercial potential and guiding them to market success.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partnering with Commercialisation Managers, you'll harness TIF funding to enhance commercial viability through technology development.
  • Cultivate Innovation: Empower academic communities to accelerate technology development through TIF, bridging the gap between ideas and implementation.

As one of the first hires into the team you will be able to bring your experience and skills to shape how we deliver this exciting new venture.

What we're looking for:
  • Expertise: You will have commercial acumen and a deep understanding of technology development, and market dynamics.
  • Experience: With a solid background in commercial/industry settings, you're ready to navigate complex projects and technologies.
  • Communication: Your knack for clear, concise communication will be pivotal in conveying complex ideas and fostering collaboration across diverse audiences.
  • Detailoriented: Your attention to detail ensures nothing slips through the cracks in our pursuit of excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: From our internal teams to external partners, your adept stakeholder management will drive collaboration and propel projects forward.
  • Project Pioneering: You’ll be comfortable collaborating with colleagues and academic teams to craft project plans, ensuring seamless execution and tangible results.
  • Innovation Mindset: Bring your intellectual curiosity and commercial acumen to the table, driving forward-thinking strategies and unlocking opportunities at every turn.

Diversity and equality matter:

These are our ideal requirements, but we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. At Cambridge Enterprise, we promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture, so please apply if you meet the majority of the job requirements.

If you have any questions about the interview process, or if you need any reasonable adjustments, please don’t hesitate to contact Ian, Gemma or Michelle at [email protected]
