This is an exciting opportunity to join the User Engagement team of the Quantum Computing and Simulation (QCS) Hub, that is developing and commercialising quantum computing. The QCS Hub is part of the UK’s £1bn National Quantum Technologies Programme (UK NQTP) and a flagship project with goals to achieve global leadership in research and economic impact. The QCS Hub is a network of 17 leading UK universities and more than 24 industry partners, led by the University of Oxford.
Building on world-leading research, the QCS Hub is developing practical quantum computing and simulation technologies and helping to create a new industry sector and user community in the UK. The consortium of 17 universities is funded by an award of £25m over 5 years and supported by a number of commercial partners. The User Engagement Team identifies and works with partners in the emerging quantum information technology industry and the future application development and user communities. It does this in close partnership with the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), three other QT Hubs, NPL, BEIS, DSTL, NCSC and other members of the UK NQTP.
The current 5-year phase runs from 2019 until 2024. This post is a full-time role available for a fixed-term of up to 36 months through to the end of November 2024.
This pivotal and exciting role will place the candidate in the centre of an emerging new industry and technology. This is not a research role but the successful candidate must develop a good understanding of the relevant technologies and should possess a physical science, materials, engineering or computer science degree. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential and an understanding of IP, commercial contracts and research funding would be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of organisations. Previous working experience in knowledge exchange, technology transfer or roles in innovation in academia, industry or the public sector would be an advantage.
Only applications received before midday 2 November 2021 can be considered. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
