Salary / Grade:

G5 Technician £28,250 to £32,113 with potential to progress to £33,904 per annum inclusive of London weighting.

G6 Senior Technician £32,995 to £37,488 with potential to progress to £39,607 per annum inclusive of London Weighting

Salary and grade will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Those appointed to G5 grade will have the opportunity to attain G6 dependent upon personal development in line with Brunel’s Technician’s Commitment.

The Services Team within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS) is growing and are looking to recruit a Technician or Senior Technician in order to support the technical operations of the College’s Department of Health Sciences . The post holder will specialise in technical support related to the department’s facilities and will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning. These facilities include: clinical skills rooms, immersive learning room, a simulated hospital ward, research facilities (specialising in motion analysis and biomechanical assessment) and a suite of specialist skills rooms (such as kitchen facilities, manual handling training rooms, and physical rehabilitation spaces).

Working within the College’s Services Team, the post holder will ensure that students and staff consistently receive an excellent experience and all activities and operations within teaching and technical spaces are safe, compliant and effective; and the facilities and equipment are used and maintained to the highest standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with previous experience in supporting clinical skills and simulation, and are looking to advance their career. The successful candidates will need:

• To have previous experience of providing clinical skills and simulation technical support.

• To be familiar with the common equipment used within medical and allied health professionals’ education.

• Experience of supporting practical teaching in a relevant discipline (e.g. health, life, or medical sciences).

• To be a confident communicator who can effectively discuss technical matters with people of various levels of knowledge.

• Experience of adhering to / applying relevant legislation such as health and safety, data protection and procurement.

• Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.

Appointment to Senior Technician (G6) will require the successful candidate to be able to: take a leading role in the day-to-day operations and the management of facilities and resources; supervise others; refine working practices and monitor standards; and support the Technical Manager in running the technical service.
