The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a full-time Technical position in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
The purpose of this role is to provide a high level of specialist technical support to the Low Carbon Energy and Resources Technologies (LCERT) Research Group laboratories. The role holder will play an integral part in the supervision and maintenance of laboratories within the group, as well as ensuring that core infrastructure is maintained.

Applications are invited for this fixed term post in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, with responsibility for providing technical support for activities within the LCERT research laboratories. Within this inspiring environment, you will organise and supervise the highly utilised laboratories, with support from other technicians across the Faculty. Responsibilities will include maintenance of laboratories and equipment, management of laboratory health and safety, liaising with colleagues on the design and content of new laboratory experiments, and providing teaching support. The role has significant manual handling involved, including taking delivery of gas cylinders and transportation of cryogens, gases and chemicals.
You are positive and proactive in your work, able to work with minimal supervision, able to develop novel solutions to problems, and engage in new opportunities and challenges as required. When in contact with laboratory stakeholders, you are able to lead and communicate your advice and thoughts. Applicants will require experience of working in an analytical chemistry laboratory environment. Candidates must have the ability to learn new techniques and transfer knowledge of theory and practice to others, capacity to understand and identify the technical/experimental needs of staff and students, ability to work autonomously and good computer skills. Training will be provided where required, a willingness to learn and develop skills and responsibilities will be encouraged and expected. Possession of a health and safety qualification would be an advantage, while strong general technical and analytical skills are essential.
This is a full-time post (36.25 hours), fixed term until 28/02/2024. Arrangements for job share would be considered.
