Technical Supervisor - Chemical Engineering

We are seeking a Technical Supervisor to join the Department of Chemical Engineering.


About the role:

You will be responsible for the technical supervision of a team of technical staff, with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Chemical Engineering laboratories and facilities in the Faculty of Engineering and Design’s Department Services. You’ll oversee and facilitate service provision and support across a platform of specialist laboratories and workshops. 

You will assist the Technical Manager in establishing best practice in the supervision of technical staff and laboratory and workshop facilities, as well as the forward planning and optimum utilisation of materials, equipment, and technical resources. You will discharge these responsibilities in addition to maintaining your own ‘hands on’ specialist technical activities.  

This is a permanent position, working full time on campus. Due to the nature of the role, remote working is not applicable to this position.

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in a relevant field
  • Qualification or equivalent experience of leadership and/or management
  • Experience in leading compliance and promoting health and safety protocols
  • Experience of planning and managing multifaceted projects
  • Proven experience of managing a team to achieve high quality service delivery
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt communication to a range of audiences
