Are you an experienced team leader looking for a new challenge? Can you manage a budget, drive complex projects from conception to delivery, and manage stakeholder relationships to ensure customer satisfaction?
The Faculty of Science & Engineering is looking for a new Technical Manager to join the Engineering Labs & Facilities team. Reporting to the Labs & Facilities Technical Manager, you will be responsible for a suite of laboratories which support the University of Bristol’s composites research. Overseeing day-to-day operations, you will line-manage a small team of composite specialists, provide ongoing development of laboratory spaces to meet research objectives, and ensure legislative and local area safety requirements are met.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team supporting a dynamic and interesting area of material research.
You will:
- Provide leadership and line-management to a team of skilled composite specialists.
- Lead complex development projects and equipment procurement.
- Take responsibility for health and safety within your areas of responsibility.
- Manage delegated laboratory and servicing budgets of around £100k.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to establish clear customer requirements and implement operational guidelines for meeting them.
- You have experience leading a team and successfully setting, and meeting, operational objectives.
- You can accurately forecast operational budgets and manage these effectively across a financial year.
- You have experience managing daily operations and health & safety in a laboratory, light industrial, or similar environment.
- You have a proven working knowledge of managing projects from first principles.
For informal queries please contact Lee Silver – [email protected].
