A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced CRISPR specialist to join the Cellular Generation and Phenotyping team (CGaP) at the Sanger Institute. 

About the role:

You will lead part of a cross functional group using advanced gene editing technologies, such as CRISPR, to deliver functional genomics projects in partnership with faculty teams.

You will join the team as a Technical Specialist to support the expansion and diversification of our Functional Genomic platform, with the aim of expanding into new challenging models e.g. human cancer cells, iPSC, organoids, primary cells and technologies such as CRISPRi and Saturation Genome Editing. As a Technical Specialist within these projects, you will:



  • Lead and support a team of research assistants to perform large-scale culture of cancer and iPSC lines

  • Troubleshoot current methods and identify process improvements

  • Focus on the cutting-edge CRISPR technologies being developed to drive continuous evolution

  • Develop and mentor junior staff, with options for line management

  • Collaborate closely with faculty groups within the institute to deliver projects
