Estates and Campus Services
The Estates team design, repair, maintain and secure all campuses. We aim to provide a seamless service to all students, staff and visitors. Covering a multitude of services, we are available to assist with any issue concerning the University estates and facilities, safety, security and welfare of students, staff and visitors to campus. The section has a mix of professional, skilled and semi-skilled staff and seeks to provide a highly professional service.
Duties of the Role
The Technical Assistant is responsible for the administration and management of the estates maintenance asset management and maintenance records and compliance systems, including the supervision of various service and maintenance contracts. The post holder will assist in developing a thorough system of Asset Management, and will integrate various ad-hoc systems to provide a robust electronic record management system.
The Technical Assistant will be required to monitor contractor onsite activities and carry out ad-hoc inspections, ensuring that risk assessments, method statements and compliance details are recorded, administered and updated when required. The post holder will be expected to develop a thorough understand of Health and Safety Legislation and University procurement procedures and processes.

Skills and qualifications required
It is essential that the successful candidate has knowledge of spreadsheet and database systems, and has previous experience in managing complex and varied computer-based record management systems. A general understanding of Health and Safety legislation and asset management principles is essential, as is excellent communication and organisational skills. It would be beneficial if the post holder holds a relevant qualification in property management or maintenance, or has completed a qualification in Business Management.
