Summary of the role

A full time Teaching Support Technician is required at the University of Exeter in Cornwall. This role will help support undergraduate and masters project students, as well as delivering laboratory and field based teaching provision, within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy research. This role is available on a fixed term basis for a period of one year from March 2023.

The successful applicant will join a team of technical staff who support teaching of a wide range of subjects including biosciences, environmental science and geography based on the University’s Penryn Campus near Falmouth in Cornwall. Much of our teaching makes use of the varied landscapes of Cornwall and further afield for field courses and project work, as well as working from well-equipped teaching and research laboratories on the Campus.  The successful applicant will also be part of a wider team of technical staff supporting the activities of the College on the Penryn Campus in specific areas such as health and safety provision.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Laboratory support for student projects including demonstrating protocols and experimental procedures and provision of health and safety advice.
  • Fieldwork support for student projects via provision of advice and equipment.
  • General field course / trip support including demonstrating and provision of equipment and other resources.
  • Provision of a first point of contact for all project students working in both labs and in the field.
