The role 

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and the capacity to teach digital and analogue processes within a motion design context. 

You will join a highly motivated programme team which enjoys significant opportunities and support for personal development. As well as having an established motion design profile and a professional contact network. You will be equally at ease in a lecture theatre, seminar or workshop setting and able to meet the needs of a large and diverse student body.

This role is for 35 hours a week, with a set working pattern determined by the Programme Leader.

About you

We are looking for a passionate motion designer to join our graphic communication lecturing team. Hands on working, guiding students to reach their potential will be at the heart of what you do. This is a chance for a vocational academic to indulge their passion, be an inspiring mentor and valued colleague, someone who brings something uniquely their own to the core team. This means you will need several strings to your bow.

Conversant in 2D/3D animation, video production, visual effects, and motion graphics, you will be teaching students the art and techniques of compositing, as well as industry and studio practices. You need to have proven working knowledge of industry standard software including Cinema 4D, Houdini and After Effects. Additional knowledge of experiential design and AR/VR environments is also desirable.

You will have a strong understanding of the history, context and future potential of motion design, be aware of design trends, industry standards and emerging technologies needed to stay ahead of the curve.

You will have experience in senior-level teaching, be at ease in a lecture theatre and seminar setting, and able to meet the needs of a large and diverse student body. You should have the ability to supervise and advise students on study skills, identifying their learning needs and defining learning objectives as well as assessing their work and providing constructive feedback. The candidates experience will dictate if the senior teaching fellow or teaching fellow posts are offered.

All of this will empower you to create a rich and rewarding student experience to do so, you will be adept at communicating to a diverse range of individuals from varying backgrounds and have specialist knowledge and understanding of race, multiculturalism, and diversity.
