Department of Fashion & Textiles

The Department of Fashion & Textiles is the school’s largest department, offering design, leadership & strategy, and marketing education, at undergraduate, taught-postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The department supports one of the largest international student communities in Europe studying fashion leadership, marketing, management, and strategy programmes, whilst sustaining a long-held reputation for the nurturing of high-level design practice and craft-based skills. 

The role 

This role focuses on maintaining our growing national and international reputation in Textile Design, including heritage, contemporary and innovative design and development techniques. The role will focus on high quality education delivery that complements the school and university’s broader strategy.  

About You

You will have a proven track record of developing and delivering an excellent standard of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as being able to develop a variety of learning and teaching approaches to deliver an excellent level of education including lesson planning, writing project briefs, designing assessment and feedback. You will be expected to have competent experience of presentation, critique and communication methods and skills. 

You will need to have expertise in woven textiles design, materials, techniques and processes on a variety of dobby looms, the TC2 Digital Jacquard Loom and Point Carre design software.
