Based in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences comprises four distinct areas across the subjects of chemistry, earth sciences, environmental sciences and geography, each delivering exceptional teaching, support and research. All degree programmes are professionally accredited and designed with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in mind.
Staff and students work and study in the stunning natural landscape of south west England. An interdisciplinary team of world-class academics undertakes teaching and research focused on challenges including climate change, natural hazards, social justice, pollution, energy transitions, land- and seascape conservation and the sensitive development of natural resources.

The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Spatial Planning with disciplinary knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following broad areas:
- Urban, regional, and/or environmental planning
- Environmental sustainability and management
- Urban / environmental geography
SoGEES is a large, interdisciplinary School with an enviable record of success. Our research and teaching activities address issues of sustainability on land and at sea, and we are seeking to appoint an excellent candidate capable of advancing our inter-disciplinary activities. You will work within either or both of the social and environmental sciences, and teach into the MSc Planning, and undergraduate Geography and/or Environmental Management and Sustainability programmes.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.
