We seek to appoint a motivated individual to take on the Teaching Fellow role in Islamic Studies OR Islamic Studies with Education.  Candidates should hold a relevant PhD with teaching and research experience in Islamic Studies or Islamic Studies with Education.

Job Description 

Post Title: Teaching Fellow in Islamic Studies OR Islamic Studies with Education

Location: Markfield, Leicestershire

Salary: Negotiable

Hours: Full-time / Part-time

Contract Type: One year (with the possibility of a permanent position)

Reporting to: The Rector

Main Role: To teach and provide leadership in Islamic studies and education, provide academic support to students, demonstrate general academic skills, supervise students’ dissertations and research projects, and contribute to the development of academic programmes and implementation of the Institute’s academic plans.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Teaching and related duties, including module leadership
  • Contribute to curriculum design and development in accordance with the Institute’s strategic plans. This will require participation in subject reviews, validation and re-validation processes.
  • Develop and maintain an external academic profile through participation in professional/commercial academic activities, enhancement of the curriculum, and awareness of external markets and competitors.
  • Advance personal knowledge of the subject by conducting research and other original work and publishing the results individually or in collaboration with others.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of students.
  • Undertake appropriate administrative duties as required.
  • Undertake other duties when required by the Principal
