Applications are invited for a Teaching Associate in the Department of History of Art. This fixed-term post is available for 12 months from 1 September 2024 until 31 August 2025, to provide temporary cover in the absence of another member of staff.
The post-holder will have an exemplary teaching track record, with research publications in the field of the History of Art and Architecture.
Early career scholars with specialist knowledge in the field of Renaissance Studies c. 1350-1650 are particularly encouraged to apply. The post-holder will hold a PhD in Art History on a topic relating to the Renaissance period and will have experience in teaching and assessment at University level. They will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art and Cambridge University collections.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to course development, innovation and teaching and examining for undergraduate/graduate students, to support and maintain the University's national and international reputation for excellence.
The full-time role teaching within the Department will involve lecturing, conducting seminars and small group teaching, and supervising undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate students, as well as setting and assessing coursework and examinations. Specifically the post-holder will create and deliver two specialist option papers (each 10 hours in total) on aspects of Renaissance Art, co-convene the first-year "The making of Art" course and contribute lectures/seminars across the Tripos and MPhil.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to administrative duties, commensurate with the role. They will be asked to assist in marking dissertations at graduate and undergraduate level as appropriate.
Working in a small, friendly department, the role will suit those keen to bring their research expertise into teaching and to forge connections with academics in the discipline.
