Contract Type:Fixed term between 01 September 2024 and 30 June 2025
The Modern Languages Teaching Centre (MLTC) seeks to appoint a fixed term Teaching Associate in German who will be responsible for convening and delivering German language modules from beginners’ to advanced levels, developing and updating materials as appropriate and contributing to the academic activities of the MLTC as a whole.
You will have C2 or near C2 proficiency in German with knowledge of current affairs and cultural life in German-speaking countries, a good track record in teaching the language in higher education for general and possibly specific purposes, and experience of acting as module leader. You will have a degree involving German (or equivalent experience), ideally a teaching qualification, and a strong commitment to professional development and the delivery of a high-quality, innovative language-learning experience to students.

The Modern Languages Teaching Centre is at the forefront of the University’s Languages for All programme , an initiative launched in 2012 to sustain the University’s employability and internationalisation strategic agenda, and we currently deliver specialist and non-specialist language training in thirteen languages to over 2,000 students each year, undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as staff and members of the local community. German is taught from absolute beginner to Higher Advanced levels to non-specialists as well as specialists on University’s successful BA in Modern Languages and Cultures programme.
