The University of Nottingham, School of Law is looking to recruit new colleagues to sustain educational excellence and scholarship within the School.
Law is an area of growth and potential, and we welcomed a large cohort of new students in September 2023. These students will soon be entering their second year when they begin to take optional modules as well as the core Law curriculum. If you are interested in exciting and engaging our students, both new and old, we want to hear from you.
We are looking to recruit new colleagues who can teach in at least ONE (preferably two) of our core modules or in key optional modules.
We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have expertise in Foundations of Tort, Law of Contract, Land Law, or Law of Trusts, and/or in the areas of corporate/commercial law, consumer and marketing law, mental health law, law and technology, or intellectual property.
For full details of the role, please see the accompanying role profile form.
The School of Law at the University of Nottingham is a dynamic place for research, teaching and learning. It is consistently ranked amongst the top law schools in the UK and attracts some of the very best students from around the world to its excellent undergraduate, Masters and PhD programmes. All of our academics also contribute to School administration.
We believe that every one of our staff members can contribute to enhancing the diverse environment in which we work, and we are keen to hear what your contribution could be. We want to appoint people not just based on their past achievements, but also on the potential they show for the future and we want to draw on the widest possible range of talents and backgrounds. A diverse and collegiate environment, bringing different perspectives to our work, and allowing people to blossom is the best platform for cutting-edge research and excellent teaching and student support.
We will shortlist based solely on answers to the questions asked as part of the online application process, so please do not include a CV. We do not see candidates’ names as part of our shortlisting process: we have found this significantly increases the diversity of candidates we invite to interview. If you would like to share further information (e.g. to explain a career break), please use the ‘additional information’ section.
There are multiple positions available and they are offered on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2026. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
Informal enquiries can be made to the Head of School, Professor Olympia Bekou: [email protected]
