Position Teaching Assistant (1 year contract)

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the role of Teaching Assistant.
Purpose of the post
Candidates will be assigned to teach practical classes and tutorials for specific Microbiology and Immunology modules for undergraduates. They will be guided by the module coordinators or instructors.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conducting tutorials and lab practical sessions with undergraduate students
- Supporting class management and administration matters of practical sessions
- Recruiting and training graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) to assist in the practical sessions.
- Ensuring laboratory safety guidelines are adhered to in the laboratory
- Liaising between module coordinators, lecturers, GTAs and laboratory technologists for the smooth running of practical sessions
- Assisting in invigilation of continual assessments and examinations
- Marking of course assignments (reports, presentations)
- Contributing to the development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives.
Qualifications
BSc. in life sciences/microbiology/immunology or related area is required. Past teaching and facilitation experience (especially at the university level) with good student feedback will put candidates in a strong standing.
