Due to the increase in student numbers, Brockenhurst College is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and hardworking Lecturer to join the Sport and Exercise department. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis offering a competitive salary of £24,547 - £40,026 per annum (pay scale review pending) The successful candidates will be a qualified teacher and the applicants should be experienced in teaching and assessing across various Sport and Exercise courses students with a range of abilities.

The ability to offer expertise in more than one area would be a distinct advantage, whether this is within our BTEC courses, Exercise and Fitness courses or whether you have experience coaching within our targeted Sports Academies.

The Sport and Exercise department is an outstanding and very successful department, with some notable achievements both in the classroom and on the sports field. The department has over 15 members of staff who work to consistently improve the range and quality of provision offered at Brockenhurst.

The successful applicants will be excellent role models and caring members of staff who enjoy teaching 16–19-year-olds. They will have high expectations of their students, and a proven track record of good results within their teaching and assessment. They will be expected to contribute ideas and share resources with the team, with the aim of continuous development.

As our Teacher of Physical Education, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching & learning.

Responsibilities as our Teacher of Physical Education will include:

  • Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Department.
  • Act as a Course Manager, when requested.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students.
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
    • individual learning styles;
    • support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities;
    • extension resources/activities for students of higher ability;
    • general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.

What we are looking for in our Teacher of Physical Education:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Sport / Physical Education
  • High quality teaching of L3 BTEC and A Level PE to pupils of all abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area
  • Evidence of working towards and achieving personal targets
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students
