Sustainable Fertiliser Management Scientist (KTP Associate)
Fixed Term Contract for 30 months
Flexible working will be actively considered
£33,000 to £35,000 per annum, dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus £5,000 personal development budget
Location: Yara UK Limited, Pocklington, Yorkshire
We welcome applications from passionate, skilled, committed, prospective candidate to join our team of agronomists and fertiliser specialists to contribute to development of novel fertilisers.
An exciting opportunity to work as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate has arisen as part of a collaboration project between Yara UK Limited and Cranfield University. The project will focus on development of novel fertilisers developed by combining an organic and mineral component and carrying out field scale trials to assess its efficacy to support sustainable agriculture.
About the Role
The role of this position is to embed the knowledge, skills and capabilities to develop and market a completely new sustainable line of fertiliser products with evidence-backed technical rigour
Your role will lead the development of novel fertilisers which will include scientific advancement and applied field scale evaluations at various locations in the UK.
About You
You will be educated to PhD level, or equivalent, in Soil Science, Agronomy, Geography, Crop Science and have experience in agronomic field trials, laboratory analysis, data analysis and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts. With excellent communication skills, you will have expertise in social network analysis and a background in Health & Safety would be an advantage.
This role requires knowledge of field scale agronomic trials and setting up scientific experiments along with excellent written and communications skills to a range of audiences. Time management and multi-tasking skills are vital in order to achieve various milestones to meet commercial demand whilst advancing scientific discoveries in this field. Knowledge of commercial fertiliser productions would also be desirable in this role. Previous experience of managing projects which involves industries and academic is also essential.

You will be based at Pocklington, York and will work closely with Natalie Wood at Yara UK Limited and a team of academics at the Cranfield Soil and Agrifood Institute.
