You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre. As a subject lead, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials and delivery across a range of modules or within a subject area.  The Subject Lead role may also have programme management responsibility of an IY1 programme. The role is supported through remission against overall teaching hours. The amount of remission will be proportionate to the volume of students on the programme.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Provide academic coordination for designated module(s) in the role of Subject Lead
  • Provide operational day-to-day management and support for a specified group of full-time and /or sessional tutors.
  • Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programmes and the student life cycle
  • Supervise progression tracking and similar student outcome-focussed initiatives Within a discrete subject are, operational within the centre, reporting on these to the Head of Department and Assistant Director of Curriculum and Progression.
  • Deputise for the Head of Department when necessary.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the centre.
  • Contribute to the delivery and assessment of the provision
  • Prepare module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, mark and provide feedback to students
  • Update and maintain the Virtual Learning Environments (VLE, Studysmart)

ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A Masters qualification is desirable
  • Candidates holding a PhD will be particularly welcomed.
  • Experience teaching in UK higher or further education and preferably a teaching qualification and experience working with international students
