About the vacancy: We are looking for two of part-time Administrators to join our Student and Programme Support (SPS) Team at both our Frenchay and Glenside Campuses. The Frenchay role is 18.5 hours per week and the Glenside role is 22 hours per week. Please state in your application if you would like to be considered.

Our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. 

You will work collaboratively with academic and professional service teams supporting the student journey, and helping students achieve success in their studies. The workload is varied and encompasses almost every aspects of the student journey at the University.

The SPS Team works collaboratively with academic and professional service teams to deliver a high quality service aimed at helping students achieve success in their studies. The responsibilities of the team are extremely varied and touch on almost every aspect of the student journey, from the moment they arrive at UWE until their graduation and beyond.

About you: We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide range of administrative experience in a professional office environment. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands are key in this role.

The successful postholder will have good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as experience in working with complex database systems. The ability to manipulate data and produce basic reports is essential in this role.

Team working is an integral part of everything the SPS team does and you will have the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders across the university.

There will be times when workloads are high and it is therefore essential that you are resilient, flexible and able to approach your work in a calm and professional manner.

You will be supported in learning this role and given opportunities to develop your skills and experience through a thorough induction programme as well as various inhouse learning and development courses.

About us: Student and Academic Services (SAS) is a large professional service supporting staff and students across the academic life cycle promoting the student experience. Our support services enable students to develop academically, professionally, and personally. SAS operate across all campuses delivering service excellence. The service offers a range of experiences and supports the training and development of its staff.

Within SAS, the Student & Programme Support Team (SPS) plays an important role in managing the student record from registration through to graduation, including the assessment processes.  Some examples of the tasks we are responsible for are: supporting students to register on a course; managing their assessments to ensure documentation is accurately prepared to be considered at examining boards; clerking various meetings, including exam boards; and the publication of students' results. The ability to work as part of a team and to be able to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels is essential.

These roles are part-time and are advertised as permanent.

UWE Bristol is a campus-based University and it is important for our success and the delivery of an outstanding experience for our students that our campuses are dynamic and vibrant places to learn and spend time. This role is therefore campus based with the opportunity for some remote working.

Even though this role is based at the campus mentioned, we do have SPS teams based at all of our campuses and you may be asked to work from the other campuses from time to time, this could be to attend training, team meetings or to support other teams.

Due to the nature of the work in Higher Education sector, there are peak times during the academic calendar when taking leave is restricted and additional hours may be required to ensure core tasks are achieved.

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
