This is full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6FTE), temporary 2 years contract.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with an interest in using research and evaluation to support the positive student outcomes of students here at Oxford Brookes University. The successful candidate will focus on students from Widening Participation backgrounds, e.g. Black and Asian students, care leavers, estranged students, those who are from areas of the country where few progress to university, disabilities etc. They will plan, carry out and report on a range of evaluations and research studies which focus on Oxford Brookes University initiatives (e.g. peer assisted learning, pedagogical developments, student bursaries).

The successful candidate will be a member of the Widening Participation Evaluation Team, a dynamic, friendly and supportive team with a strong commitment to using evidence to inform practice. The applicant will ideally have a background in a social sciences subject (e.g. education), psychology or research methods. The successful candidate will work closely with the Pro-VC and Associate Dean for Student Outcomes in order to ensure all research and evaluation is applicable to practice and embedded in the wider University agenda around supporting all students to succeed. They will be required to work with a wide range of academics and professional services staff from across the university, offering excellent networking opportunities.

You will have opportunities to publish/co-publish and attend relevant research events. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at an early stage in their research career to gain valuable experience, publications and contacts whilst generating research insights which will inform and shape university practices and ultimately support positive student outcomes.
