Salary: UH6 £31,396 to £33,966pa, with potential to progress to £37,099pa , by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: De Havilland Campus, Hatfield

We are seeking to appoint a Student Success Officer to join the University’s Widening Access and Student Success (WASS) team, which is passionate about empowering student success, challenging inequalities and transforming lives.

WASS is a friendly and forward-thinking team, comprised of three sub-teams. Data and Evaluation which supports the delivery of our Access and Participation Evaluation Strategy and drives our ‘What Works’ approach to access and participation; Widening Access&Uni Connect which support pupil aspiration and attainment through its outreach work in targeted primary and secondary schools across Hertfordshire; and Student Success which works collaboratively with colleagues across the University to close gaps in student outcomes by addressing the barriers that contribute to lower rates of attainment, continuation, and progression for under-represented groups.

Main duties and responsibilities

As a Student Success Officer working in the Student Success team, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Student Success portfolio of work which supports students from disadvantaged and under-represented groups to be successful in higher education. The role typically includes supporting the delivery of special projects such as the Go Herts Award and delivering tailored support to one or more of our target student groups.

Skills and experience required

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual with a commitment to improving student outcomes through inclusive and personalised student support, capable of working both independently and collaboratively. You will have highly effective communication skills, with excellent organisational and administrative skills. You will also be a capable of strong IT skills and ability to make use of a range of information technologies and systems.

Qualifications required

Holds a minimum of a degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification) or significant relevant proven experience.
