About Us

Since its launch in 2001, UEL’s Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) has been a centre of excellence for solutions-based sustainability research. SRI research and development focuses on innovative eco-efficient technologies and processes, driving changes in physical infrastructure that benefit the environment and promote a carbon-neutral society. Over the last ten years, the SRI has successfully delivered a wide range of publicly funded research projects, undertaken numerous consultancy contracts and contract research initiatives, and built an excellent international reputation by applying its ground-breaking research and development with real-world stakeholders.

About the Job

The Strategic Funding Manager will need to work effectively across the SRI research teams, with external partners/collaborators (including from industry and local authorities), and with research funders. The role will include providing mentoring and training to staff where needed. The Strategic Funding Manager will oversee the overall sustainability research, and action research, funding bid development pipeline.  

About You 

We’re looking for Strategic Funding Manager with:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Able to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to a range of stakeholders.
  • Superior Time Management: Capable of juggling multiple tasks and deadlines with precision and effectiveness.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail in preparing and reviewing funding applications.
  • Proven Success in Funding Development: A history of successful research funding bids, particularly in the sustainability domain.
  • Commercial Insight: Awareness of market trends, commercial implications, and associated risks in funding.
