The Opportunity:

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) on a 4 year fixed term contract.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated statistician to support biomedical research at the IGMM. The post-holder will join the IGMM Bioinformatics Analysis Core and be mentored by group leaders with statistical biomedical research expertise.

The post holder will provide high level statistical expertise in designing and implementing statistical analysis across the IGC’s research programmes, developing novel statistical methods as appropriate. The IGC core statistician fills a key role in the provision of advice on research designs and statistical methods to ensure the validity of research projects. They will deliver statistical training workshops and 1:1 support to IGC staff and students at all levels, and develop new materials where needed. The post holder will work closely with bioinformatics, IT, and clinical research staff and students.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• PhD in a quantitative discipline with experience in the statistical analysis of large datasets, or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience.
• Familiarity with and published research experience in an area of biomedicine.
• Excellent IT skills including R statistical software.
• Experience of high dimensional data analysis.
• Demonstrable skills in project management, in particular the management of multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to communicate statistical concepts effectively to non-statisticians.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and efficient time management skills.
