We are looking for a statistical geneticist with experience in large scale analyses of genomic data to work on furthering our understanding of indirect genetic effects. The successful applicant will develop methodology, theory and apply those to further understand horizontal indirect genetic effects (doi.org/10.1038/s41562-020-00991-9 ) and assortative mating (doi.org/10.1186/s13059-015-0833-8 ; doi.org/10.1038/s41437-019-0185-3 ). It is desirable to have experience in handling whole exome and whole genome sequence data, causal inference (e.g. Mendelian Randomisation) and fitting linear mixed models at scale.

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will lead a research programme to understand indirect genetic effects in human populations. The successful candidate will interact with a large research community within Health Data Research UK (www.hdruk.ac.uk ) and will be expected to develop an international consortium to dissect indirect genetic effects in human disease and intermediate traits related to disease.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Technically proficient in statistical genetics methods (GWAS, LMM, etc)
  • Extremely good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able and committed to lead a consortium to understand indirect genetic effects
  • Open and collegial
  • Track record in high impact/high quality research publications
